Welcome from the Senior Vice President
John Di Maggio | Senior Vice President |
As an out-of-state student from Queens, New York, I came to South Carolina looking for more than just a new chapter in life. I wanted a community that matched my ambition, drive, and hunger for growth. Like many new students, I faced the challenge of starting fresh in a new city and state, wondering where I could belong.
When I first heard about Delta Sigma Pi, I was curious but unsure. I went to an information session with no expectations, just an open mind. After talking with a few Brothers, something clicked. I saw a group of students who were not only motivated but also kind, intentional, and invested in each other. Still, I hesitated. On the first night of recruitment, I sat in my dorm and flipped a coin. That simple gamble turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. That choice led me to a community that transformed my college experience. Beta Gamma is more than a professional fraternity—it’s over 100 Brothers with different backgrounds and goals, united by values of service, leadership, and loyalty. The people I met became more than peers. They became mentors, supporters, and lifelong friends. Walk through the Darla Moore School of Business and you’ll find us together—studying, collaborating, and laughing. Behind those everyday moments are deep conversations, encouragement, and a shared drive to succeed. I’ve been mentored by Brothers who inspired me to lead, and I’ve had the honor of mentoring others in return. From case competitions and workshops to tailgates, spring breaks, and service events, I’ve found the perfect balance of professional growth and genuine connection. The opportunities I’ve gained through Delta Sigma Pi are unmatched. I’ve built relationships with alumni and professionals at top firms, and I’ve taken on leadership roles that pushed me to grow. Today, as Senior Vice President, I get to give back to the Brotherhood that has given me so much. Looking back, flipping that coin didn’t define my future. The decision I made after it landed did. I chose to show up, invest in myself, and find a community that would help me grow. Now I encourage you to do the same. Delta Sigma Pi can open doors, but you hold the key. Choose growth. Choose connection. Choose a future that matters—with Beta Gamma. We can’t wait to meet you. |
