As stated in the Fraternity bylaws, the purpose of Delta Sigma Pi is as follows:
Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice; to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce, and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.
Diversity and Ethics
Our Fraternity is uniquely committed to diversity in all of our chapters. As the nation's first co-ed business fraternity and one of the most diverse Greek organizations, Delta Sigma Pi believes that individuals and organizations benefit from a wide range of perspectives, and we cultivate a culture of respect that broadens our viewpoints and makes us stronger and more effective leaders in our fields. Our training and events focus on fostering respectful, sound, ethical standards that are inclusive yet principled.
Our commitment to philanthropy and service characterizes our alumni and collegiate chapters. Philanthropy also extends to supporting the future of the Fraternity. The Delta Sigma Pi Leadership Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 educational and charitable organization aimed to support Delta Sigma Pi and its members. Through philanthropic gifts to the Foundation, Deltasigs can support the programs that they are passionate about, such Grand Chapter Congress, academic scholarships, their local chapter, and more.
With numerous opportunities to build leadership skills through training, conferences, and holding local or national offices, Delta Sigma Pi members are groomed to be leaders and continue to grow their leadership skills throughout their careers. Donations through the Delta Sigma Pi Leadership Foundation directly support these training and developmental programs. Throughout Delta Sigma Pi's leadership education, we emphasize ethical leadership that leads to lasting impact.
Delta Sigma Pi was founded in 1907 at New York University's School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance. After realizing how valuable the growing role of women in the business world was, Delta Sigma Pi became the nation's first co-ed professional business fraternity in 1975. Today, Delta Sigma Pi has over 200 established and active collegiate chapters and 50 alumni chapters across the United States.
The Beta Gamma Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi was founded at Harper College, on the Horseshoe of the University of South Carolina on April 13th, 1929. Since its founding, Beta Gamma has inducted over 2,500 brothers into the national fraternity and currently has over 90 active brothers on campus. Exclusive to business majors, liberal arts economics majors, and hospitality, retail & sports management majors, Delta Sigma Pi is unique in its singular focus on professional business development.
