Beta Gamma Executive Board
Letter from the President
It’s crazy to think about my freshman year self looking at this website for the first time, scrolling through these same pages and seeing one hundred complete strangers. Now, I look and see one hundred of my closest friends and mentors throughout college.
My time in Delta Sigma Pi has been nothing other than life changing. Upon joining, I never could’ve imagined the true impact this organization would have on my time in college. I knew the professional growth that lay ahead, but I definitely did not expect the people that would come to form some of the strongest components of my support system. The brothers of the Beta Gamma chapter are truly the most interesting, encouraging, and inspiring group of individuals I’ve ever met. It has made my college experience whole having a group of people to look for every day in the halls of Darla Moore, at sporting events cheering on the Gamecocks, in each city I travel to across the world--there is always a Deltasig somewhere to be found. It brings me a great sense of comfort to know that no matter where I go, I can find a piece of Delta Sigma Pi there. And that’s really the special thing about it, to be a part of something bigger than yourself, is that you don’t even realize just how big it is. In my time as a brother of Delta Sigma Pi, I’ve found connections across cities, states, and countries, all of us joined together by this Fraternity we call our own. Over one hundred years of history connects strangers with the common goal of improving ourselves, our business practices, and the community at large. But Beta Gamma is a lot more than that. It’s more than just the pillars and the core values, or the sayings we repeat at chapter meetings. It’s more than an extra eye on your resume or a mock interview before that big superday. Of course each of those are an integral part of it, but the impact of Beta Gamma spans far beyond words. For all the flat tires fixed, car batteries jumped, and long drives to the mountains or the beach, I have my brothers in Beta Gamma to thank. For all the late nights studying, professor recommendations, and go-to group project teams, I have my brothers in Beta Gamma to thank. And for always encouraging me to be the best and brightest version of myself, even when I didn’t know exactly who that was yet, I have my brothers in Beta Gamma to thank. Needless to say, when life throws something my way, it’s likely my first call is to a brother of Delta Sigma Pi. Everyone who knows me knows I love a good quote, so this letter simply would not be complete without one. This particular quote is one of my favorites, one I remember hearing from a very impressive woman as she talked to us about her corporate journey. She said that “within our time climbing the corporate ladder, there will be many ahead of us that will reach down their hand and pull us up a few rungs. It’s important to remember when you’re busy climbing that ladder, don’t forget to look back down and reach out your hand a few times.” If I could sum up any lesson I’ve learned during my time in this Fraternity, that quote would be how I’d do it. Not only are the brothers of Beta Gamma doing some of the most impressive work at the university, they are constantly passing down this knowledge to future generations. Here at Beta Gamma, we recognize that there is enough success for all of us, and enough room at the table for everyone to eat. And above all, we recognize that true success is achieved by helping those around you. Because of this, I could not be more honored to serve as Chapter President for my final semester at the university, to help the future of Beta Gamma achieve the same success that I have been able to find. From an unsure freshman girl just trying to find a place to belong, to the senior with her headshot front and center on the page, Delta Sigma Pi has been there with me every step of the way. Every day it is an honor to be a part of this group, and I wouldn’t want my college years any other way. Thank you Beta Gamma, for everything. Fraternally, Morgan McCullen | President |
